2014Annual Symposium of 973program "Cardio-cerebral VascularResearchProject Network" and the "Mechanisms of Environmental Metabolic Factors Induced Hypertension and Interventions Research"was heldsuccessfully onOctober 28to 30, 2014 inWan You Conifer Hotel, Chongqing. The conference was sponsored by Department of Basic Researchand the Basic Research Management Center of Ministry of Science and Technology of China, and organizedby Department of Hypertension and Endocrinology, Daping Hospital.Attendants of the conference includes the officials of the Basic Research Management Center of Ministry of Science and Technology, the President of Third Military Medical University Luo Changkun, the Superintendent of Daping Hospital Zhou Lin, and the Director of Ministry of Medical Education and ScienceYang Yong.Special experts invited included Academician Qiang Boqin, Guo Aike, Zhang Yun, Liu Depei, Hu Shengshou, Cheng Heping, Professor Tang Chaoshu, Yu Xiyong, Jin Youxin, Fang Fude, Hui Rutai, Zheng Hu,Yu Guiyin, Zhu Yi, and Wang Nanping. Including the chief scientists, project leaders, and core academic researchers ofthe project network, more than 220 participantsattended the conference. The opening ceremony was hosted by Professor Zhu Zhiming, who is the chief scientist of a 973 Program. President Luo Changkun gave a speech and greeted the participants at theopening ceremony.
In the first day, Academician Guo Aike introduced the plan of brain function link map, reviewed the development of brain research and forecasted the trend of brain science. Academician Zhang Yun analyzed the great need of cardiovascular basic research in China. ThenAcademician Liu Depei, who is from Institute of Basic Medical Sciences, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences,reviewed and discussed the front edge and hotspots of cardiovascular basic research home and abroad in future.Academician Zhang Yun, who is from Peking University, introduced several key revolutionary technologies with strong application prospects in cardiovascular basic research, such as dynamic real-time imaging of heart and two-photons imaging in brain research.Next, Professor Yang Zhongzhou, Li Hongliang and Zhu Zhiming introduced the current situation and achievements of animal models and prospective study modes in cardiovascular research. Next, Professor Wang Nanping and Tang Chaoshu et al. analysised strategically about the existing problems in cardiovascular research of 973 programs for the better arrangement in future. The next day, seven chief scientists of 973 programs reported the light spots of their own project and appreciated their colleagues¡¯ hardwork. In 2014 annual symposium, we not only focused on the research results and experience, but also concentratedon the prospective of cardiovascular research, generating some great ideas and expanding the academic horizons of the participants, and promoting the academic communication in cardio-cerebral vascular research, which should impact greatly on our country¡¯s cardio-cerebral vascular basic research.
After the speeches, the consultant experts of 973 programs and chief scientists held round-table talks for further communication and cooperation. They also highly affirmed the achievements of this conferenceand gave some important tips to strengthen the communication among the projects. Finally, this conference has promoted the development of the 973 program"cardio-cerebral vascular research project network" and the influences of our university and hospital on cardio-cerebral vascular basic research.
